A telecommunications room, MDF, IDF, or any other room that houses jumpers, patch cords, Racks, and horizontal cross-connects. The Communications room is where backbone cabling ends and horizontal cabling begins. Most office buildings usually have one Communications room per floor (IDF), distributing the network’s vertical (Backbone) cabling into a series of horizontal connections. Besides the end-user equipment, the telecom cabling in a work zone also comprises Ethernet ports, Wi-Fi receivers, patch cables, and other outlets. A well-organized cable management system allows you to change as your business grows. Adding new employees, equipment, or anything else can get expensive but having a well-managed cable system allows for these changes with little or no effort.
